Cara graduated from Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri in 2014 with a BS degree in Equestrian Science. The degree program at Stephens gave her the opportunity to learn about the industry as a professional under department advisors Ellen Beard and Kelly Hulse. During her college summers she worked for Anne Neil of Blythewood Farms in Cleveland, TN; for Robert Gardiner of High Spirits Farm in Ashland, MO and for Virgil Helm of Virgil Helm Stables in New Bloomfield, MO. She worked at R and R Stables in Lees Summit, MO and for Melissa Moore of Sunrise Stables in Versailles, KY in 2015 before returning home to Chapel Hill. She has been around horses all her life and began riding and showing horses when she was two. She and her horses have trained with Midge Cornell Hunt of Midge Hunt Stables in Raleigh, Jo Cornell of Jo Cornell Stables in Crestwood, KY, Myra Williams at Heads Up Academy in Apex, Kim and Peter Cowart of West Wind Stables in Statesville, and Liz McBride-Jones of Forever Farm in Raeford. She has shown at all levels of competition and in almost all of the divisions available at American Saddlebred horse shows. Her years of competition as a junior exhibitor and an amateur provide her with an understanding of the Saddlebred world as an exhibitor, an owner and as a customer just starting out with lessons.
Alex is a North Carolina native who has been in the equine industry for many years. Alex started riding at 10, and took dressage and jumping lessons with Ashley Dimmett and Becca Swan of Dimmett Dressage. Alex began her professional career with horses at the age of 17 and has since worked for and ridden with Susan Wiedman of Encore Sport Horse, and Piper Jones of Rolling Hill Stables. Outside of her lessons and beginning her professional career with horses Alex also found time to volunteer at the local therapeutic riding center, Horse and Buddy and pursue earning her Equissage certification for Equine massage. Alex's first Saddleseat experience was with us at Blue Moon Stables and she immediately fell in love with the breed and the style of riding. She has since purchased a horse used in our lesson program, Grayson, who she rides and shows as much as possible outside of the time they both spend teaching lessons. Alex manages most of the day-to-day care of the horses and teaches beginner through advanced riders.
